t-shirt Design Success

We recently designed the new 2014 Hayle Surf Life Saving Club t-shirt. See the project Here. The t-shirt design has been a great success and attracted many sponsors to advertise on the rear of the shirt. The printed t-shirts are now available and many of the members were wearing then at the first competition on the season, The Max Hocking Nipper Fun Day at Carbis Bay, Cornwall. You can read how the club got on at the event Here and it was great to see our design being fully embraced by all the members....

Artist Website Design

Posted By on May 5, 2014

Joe Warrior Walker is a St Ives artist based in London. His artist website needed to be clean, modern and could be viewed on tablets and phones. The design process was very 2 way with his artistic input being involved at all stages. We chose a very clean design that didn’t have any unnecessary text of pictures that would distract the user from the art. The homepage has a slider showing some of his work that takes up most of the page so that each piece can be viewed in detail. The category pages show each medium of his art in the form of smaller photos that when click on go to full screen. A Biography page, Contact page and several other pages were added including one which shows Joe’s Film works.   The Homepage: The Paintings Page:   See the live website at: joewarriorwalker.com    ...

Luxury Holiday Let Website Re-design

Luxury Holiday Let Website Re-design

Posted By on Feb 5, 2014

We were asked to redesign a luxury holiday lets website to bring it in line with the quality of accommodation that they offer. The property is in St Ives Bay, Cornwall were there are many holiday lets and therefore it is vital to have the best web presence possible. The old website had all the information that was needed but was very unappealing visually and difficult to navigate (especially on a phone or tablet). The booking calender page was also in need of an update to make it simpler and less of a challenge to book a stay. Working closely with the owner who wanted a focus on visuals we designed there new website. We kept the old website live while the site was being made and only when the website was completed, and the owner was happy did we switch over to the new site. The image below show the old and new website site by side.   Booking Page   If require a website re-design please get in touch to see how we can help. All our details are on the Contact...

Holiday Let Accommodation Website Design

Holiday Let Accommodation Website Design

Posted By on Dec 27, 2013

Holiday let accommodation is big business in Cornwall and Devon, and having a well designed website can really sell a property to a potential customer looking to book accommodation for their holiday. Many websites designed a few years ago, that have not been updated will have old poor quality photos, slow loading times, and will look terrible when viewed from a smartphone or tablet. The advances in websites in the last few years have been enormous, meaning that a website someone paid £10,000’s a few years ago, will now look very poor when compared to a modern website that costs only a fraction of that price. All the websites we design are responsive meaning that they “respond” to the device they are being viewed on, so will look great on a laptop, smart phone or Ipad. We focus on clean, well designed websites that are tailored to the customers key values so that they represent the property they are advertising. We can use the photos the client provides or can come and take the photos of the property ourselves. A recent self catered holiday let accommodation that we designed a website for was Tre View in Cornwall. They wanted a fresh modern website that was easy to navigate, had a booking form showing the availability, with local area information page and a gallery of the property.  As the client didn’t have many good quality photos of the property we visited Tre View and took a number of high quality images that we could use for the website. As always the client provided the content (words) for the website, and there was continual updates on the websites progress where we could discuss elements of the design and content so that the client was happy and a great website was produced. View the Tre View website: Treviewcornwall.co.uk   Prices Each project varies with its functionality and design and so do the prices. But as a rough guide a website similar to “Tre View” would cost approximately £600. This does not include the price to take the photos of the property which would be approximately £100 depending on the location. Other costs that you need to consider are Hosting (where the website files live) and you need to have a domain name (ours is www.donamdesign.com). We use GreenGeeks to host our websites but there are many others and Domains cost approximately £10 per year, you can see if yours is available here at GoDaddy Domain Search. If you would like to talk to use about designing or redesigning your existing website please Contact Us.                ...

Clubs and Charity Web Design

Clubs and Charity Web Design

Posted By on Nov 17, 2013

Over the past few months we have been asked to design a number of websites for charities and sports clubs. Websites can provide a very useful tool for many organisations engaging with the local community. Many sports clubs use there websites to let potential members know about there club so they can find the information they need to help them decide if they wish to join. Several clubs have found that by having a well designed website with a lot of relevant content about there club has helped to encourage new members. As they feel more able to go along and try a session because they have a good idea of what they are letting themselves in for on their first go. They might also recognise several of the club members from photos of the website eg: Coaches. For existing members the website keeps them upto date on club events, fixtures/races and when training sessions are happening. While social media is great for keeping members informed there are many people who still don’t actively use Facebook, Twitter etc, so relying on these social networks could be problematic in some instances. One local sports club website that we were asked to re-design was Hayle Surf Life Saving Club. This is a club that trains Beach Lifeguards, runs first aid courses and trains for Surf Life Saving Sport which includes a number of swimming and sea related events using craft. While Hayle SLSC had an existing website it was not being used to its full advantage, was not linked with social media, and was not displaying there latest news in the best possible way. We also made the site responsive so it could be viewed on phone and tablets. Visit the website: Hayleslsc.org.uk Charities We heard about the Hayle Foodbank and seeing that they did not have a presence on the web decided to design and build them a website. We wanted to give them a website so that they could explain what they do and also provide a platform so people could make donations via the website. We carried out a full SEO (search engine optimization) on the website so that it could be found on all major search engines. In the past few months they have received many donations via the Paypal donation button on the site aswell as requests for their bank details so people can donate directly into their account. We did not charge for this website as we saw it as a great cause helping people that have hit hard times. We have been overwhelmed by how many donations they have received via their website. Artist Website – Joe Greenaway

Artist Website – Joe Greenaway

Posted By on Sep 28, 2013

Joe Greenaway is an up and coming artist from St Ives, Cornwall who needed a website to display his art, sell pieces and take commissions. Joe asked us if we could design and build a clean website that was easy to navigate and would display his work in its best light. He wanted a colour pallette that used white, greys and turquoise for some of the highlights. Joe wanted to sell his art directly through his website, so we added Paypal integration so that people could either use Paypal to purchase or use their credit or debit cards. Art websites have to be very well designed and aesthetically pleasing and inline with the artist branding/ethos. Due to this there is a lot consultation with the client to make sure that the website represents the artist as they wish to be perceived to the customer. View Joe Greenaway’s website: joegreenaway.com Costs Each website varies in its functionality and design and therefore so does the price. Joe’s website needed to be able to sell art directly from the website (Ecommerce), which requires more time and effort than a website that simply just displays the artists portfolio. As a rough guide we could produce a website with similar functionality for between £800 – £1200.
