joe-greenaway-portrait-full-glogJoe Greenaway is an up and coming artist from St Ives, Cornwall who needed a website to display his art, sell pieces and take commissions. Joe asked us if we could design and build a clean website that was easy to navigate and would display his work in its best light. He wanted a colour pallette that used white, greys and turquoise for some of the highlights.

Joe wanted to sell his art directly through his website, so we added Paypal integration so that people could either use Paypal to purchase or use their credit or debit cards.

Art websites have to be very well designed and aesthetically pleasing and inline with the artist branding/ethos. Due to this there is a lot consultation with the client to make sure that the website represents the artist as they wish to be perceived to the customer.

Costs

Each website varies in its functionality and design and therefore so does the price. Joe’s website needed to be able to sell art directly from the website (Ecommerce), which requires more time and effort than a website that simply just displays the artists portfolio. As a rough guide we could produce a website with similar functionality for between £800 – £1200.

Other costs that you need to consider are Hosting (where the website files live) and you need to have a domain name (ours is www.donamdesign.com). We use GreenGeeks to host our websites but there are many others and Domains cost approximately £10 per year, you can see if yours is available here at GoDaddy Domain Search.
