Over the past few months we have been asked to design a number of websites for charities and sports clubs. Websites can provide a very useful tool for many organisations engaging with the local community. Many sports clubs use there websites to let potential members know about there club so they can find the information they need to help them decide if they wish to join.
Several clubs have found that by having a well designed website with a lot of relevant content about there club has helped to encourage new members. As they feel more able to go along and try a session because they have a good idea of what they are letting themselves in for on their first go. They might also recognise several of the club members from photos of the website eg: Coaches.
For existing members the website keeps them upto date on club events, fixtures/races and when training sessions are happening. While social media is great for keeping members informed there are many people who still don’t actively use Facebook, Twitter etc, so relying on these social networks could be problematic in some instances.
One local sports club website that we were asked to re-design was Hayle Surf Life Saving Club. This is a club that trains Beach Lifeguards, runs first aid courses and trains for Surf Life Saving Sport which includes a number of swimming and sea related events using craft. While Hayle SLSC had an existing website it was not being used to its full advantage, was not linked with social media, and was not displaying there latest news in the best possible way. We also made the site responsive so it could be viewed on phone and tablets.

Charities
We heard about the Hayle Foodbank and seeing that they did not have a presence on the web decided to design and build them a website. We wanted to give them a website so that they could explain what they do and also provide a platform so people could make donations via the website.
We carried out a full SEO (search engine optimization) on the website so that it could be found on all major search engines. In the past few months they have received many donations via the Paypal donation button on the site aswell as requests for their bank details so people can donate directly into their account.
We did not charge for this website as we saw it as a great cause helping people that have hit hard times. We have been overwhelmed by how many donations they have received via their website.
